I am THIS, not that.

When asked “Who are you?” or “What do you do?,” we often rely on familiar labels to answer.

We might describe our family roles, gender, occupation, race, nationality, beliefs, values… anything that defines us within a particular framework.

But what if these labels are merely a “construct,” a way we build our sense of self throughout our lives? We seek identity, purpose, comfort in them: “I am a mom.” “I am an artist.” “I am Black.” “I am Canadian.” “I am gay.” “I am straight.” “I am an introvert.”

Yet, what if we stripped away all those definitions? What would remain?

Truthfully, you are none of those labels.

You are THIS.

What is THIS?

THIS is what’s left after the constructed self falls away.

You are stillness.
You are space.
You are serenity.
You are peace.
You are a deep inner knowing.

If you’re willing to let go of the labels, you’ll discover your true power, your true essence. Perhaps you’ll even find God there.

As Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I AM God.”
