A note to anyone gathered under a name — church, community, fellowship, circle, tribe.
The thing that holds a group together is usually a shared belief. A shared doctrine. A shared way of seeing. And as long as everyone agrees, the bond holds.
But that is not the bond the Father had in mind.
If love is not the tie, what’s left is transactional — connection conditional on agreement, belonging conditional on alignment. That kind of bond is brittle. It can’t survive real difference, because difference was never supposed to be there.
Love is wider than that. Love does not require you to believe what I believe in order to sit with me, walk with me, carry something with me. The Father’s heart is not a smaller thing that needs protecting from people who see differently. It is wide enough, deep enough, big enough to hold all of it.
This isn’t relativism — it isn’t “anything goes, nothing matters.” It’s the opposite. It’s recognizing that the deepest things are not the property of any one framework. Truth doesn’t shrink to fit inside agreement. It was never contained there to begin with.
By this shall all know you — not by your doctrine, but by your love for one another.
That’s the only membership that was ever real.
